Course Description
Resource and Direct Studies classes provide students with the opportunity to develop skills to support their unique academic, socio-emotional, and physical learning profiles with the ultimate goal to empower them to be lifelong learners.
Three key skill development areas include:
- Executive functioning:
- Organization
- Task initiation
- Planning/prioritization
- Time management
- Academic goal setting:
- Relating to more individualized skill development based on each student’s individual learning plan
- Collaborate to set goals and objective
- Assessment of personal goals and objectives
- Developing critical thinking skills
- Communication and self-reflection:
- Proactive and positive communication
- Self- advocacy
- Personal awareness and responsibility
Assessment:
- IEP goal assessment progress
- Qualitative observations
- Self-reflection
