Chemistry 11H  Block F - Dr. Mercer

Joffre Lake

Welcome to Chemistry 11H

Chemistry 11H is the first year of our program that encompasses the material from Chemistry 11, Chemistry 12, and Chemistry AP. As you have proven yourself in Chemistry10 last year I have no doubt that you will be able to do well again in this course. This year you will only gain credit for Chemistry 11 and next year you will get a double credit in Chemistry 12 and Chemistry AP.

You are embarking on a great journey. The material in the course is reasonably challenging but the pace is rapid so you need to be prepared and work very hard. We have to cover all of the regular Chemistry 11 material and complete three very demanding AP only units this year. This is why we set a high entry mark for the course.

Your final 11H mark will be primarily based upon material completed in class, on assignments, and unit tests. These assessments will be weighted at 75% of the total. In June there will be a final exam worth the remaining 25% of the total, but it will only be on the Chemistry 11 material. It is the same exam that is written by the Chemistry 11 students.

You will be issued a text Book: Chang Chemistry. In addition, here is a link to a Digital Text Book

And here is a NEW link to the Chemistry 12 Data Booklet. It has a Periodic Table, charges of ions, solubility rule chart, and lots of interesting information that we use next yer.
